Inspiron 530 and Vostro 200
So if I replace the mobo in a Vostro 200 (G33M02) how do I know whether I got an Inspiron 530 mobo or a Vostro 200 mobo and which BIOS upgrade would be recommended? And which set of CPUs would be supported?
The original Vostro mobo did the 10 seconds boot, 10 seconds shut down, repeat, dance...

The Vostro 200 is a rebadged clone of the Inspiron 530 and the motherboards are the same.
Dell used two motherboard versions in their Vostro 200 and Inspiron 530 desktops.
Assuming that you have a Vostro 200MT, if you have the FoxConn G33m02 [Dell P/N ORY007] motherboard and 300w PSU installed, then Core 2 Quad processors are not supported.
To use Core 2 Quad processors, a 0FM586 [FoxConn G33m03] motherboard and a 350w power supply, is required.
Unless the computer was ordered from with a Core 2 Quad, then the motherboard that's installed can be the FoxConn G33m02 [Dell P/N ORY007].
Reading the thread HERE may also, help.

Thanks Bev.
Actually, I'm refurbing a Vostro 200 (SFF). i replaced the G33M02, the power supply, and wish to ensure that my e5700 works. I expect I'll need to upgrade the BIOS -- I just don't know which BIOS to use. I think I'll compare them and see if they match (even though the version numbers do not).
